Hamilton joined rallies around the country to protest against the Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement on Saturday.

Around 22 protests were planned from Whangarei to Invercargill. Hamilton's contingent met at the Meteor Theatre at 12.30pm, and marched to the Riff Raff statue where they were caught on Hamilton's Riff Raff Cam - a live camera stream of the statue area.

Speakers took hold of the microphone to "educate those around" them and protesters were holding signs reading "John Key doesn't speak for me" and "Thanks for selling us out."

About 100 people joined in the protest, which occurred just down the road from Hamilton's Children's day.

Police said the day had gone smoothly and they had no concerns.
