Sam Smith digs Hobbiton

What do Hobbits and Sam Smith have in common? They share the same diet (according to his post on Instagram).

Smith has been visiting New Zealand ahead of his Australasian tour but on Tuesday, got massively excited about visiting Hobbiton.

The British musician posted 12 different photos from the movie set on Instagram with the captions, "THIS IS ACTUALLY HAPPENING," and "Best day of my life".

He looked very excited as he sipped on some Hobbit ale at the Green Dragon and said he would chop off his toe to live there and be a Hobbit - although he didn't specify which toe.

His visit to Matamata to visit the famous movie set of Peter Jackson's films seems to have been a successful experience for the pop star.

"What a day," he said. "I am coming again. Until then I'm actually gonna build my own hobbit house. No joke x."

Smith has been taking plenty of photos of New Zealand, posting shots of Kiwi scenery to Instagram.

Smith's tour starts in Auckland on Wednesday and then continues to Brisbane on Saturday.
